As of February 2026 Larry’s Pharmacy will be able to offer Strept-throat assessments for $0 for patients 3 years of age or older with a Nova Scotia health card. A pharmacist will do an assessment to determine if a throat swab is appropriate and if so, results will be available within about 5 minutes. If results are positive an antibiotic can be prescribed on the spot, meaning much greater access to care and less trips to the ER!
